Glass Kilns 120 Volts
Glass kilns are used for fusing and forming of glass shapes. Olympic's glass fusing kilns have both lid and body elements. Elements in the firing chamber are used to evenly heat the glass piece and the lid element is used when fusing temperature is reached. Glass fusing kilns have a maximum temperature range of 1700° F and generally are not as deep as pottery kilns because most glasswork is done on one layer of shelving. Any pottery or ceramic kiln can be built with a lid element for glass fusing and provide multiple applications for the kiln operator. The frontloading design is ideal for bead annealing or lampworking.

Glass Kiln Options

RTC-1000 Electronic Controller
Olympic's Electronic Controller or Wall Unit for glass kilns is designed specifically for glass. This controller allows the flexibility to program "on the fly" and make changes to the program while firing. Stores up to six user programs with eight segments per program and programs 5 & 6 can be combined to create a 16-segment program. The controller will add time in 5 minute increments, has 3 speeds - slow, medium, fast - multi-zone control, delay start, alarm, error codes and computer interface is available.

Lid Mode Switch
Provides flexibility for glass fusing kilns equipped with an electronic controller. This allows the kiln operator two modes of flexibility when firing: 1) When the toggle switch is in the Up position, the electronic controller runs both the lid and body elements; and 2) when the toggle switch is the Down position, the lid element is controlled manually by an infinite switch. The mode switch is standard on all Olympic Glass Fusing Kilns except 120-volt models. These models have a toggle switch to give 100% power to either the lid or body elements. On the 120 volt glass kilns when the toggle switch is in the UP position, the lid element is on full power for fusing and when the toggle switch is in the DOWN position, the wall element is operational.
Quartz Porthole
Allows the operator to view through a round 2" diameter quartz glass window and see within the kiln while it is firing. Maximum firing temperature 1700°F.
Bead Door
is available as an open slot or flip-up style door. The front-loading style is perfect for jewelry making and wax burnout with its peaked roof and porthole for ventilation.
Flash Arm
option provides a lid brace arm for flash venting and raking glass. The arm is positioned in front of the kiln for easy access and may be set with a clearance of 2 3/4" or 4" and it has a wood handle which keeps the Flash Arm cool for easy operation. Oval and 28-inch diameter glass fusing kilns require a counter weight lid system to use the Flash Arm. Other Olympic glass fusing kilns may be retrofitted wih the Flash Arm. Exceptions would include Olympic ovals and 28-inch glass fusing kilns that do not have a counter weight lid system.
Center Hinged
design provides clamshell and top loading capabilities for deeper glass fusing models. Now kilns 14-inch deep can be opened clamshell style without becoming too top heavy for the kiln operator. Center hinged kilns can be hinged at the top and center of the kiln chamber for the kiln operator who wants top and clamshell loading capabilities.
